Meet: Demetria Saunders
Role: Project Coordinator
Time with Installnet: 3 years
What do you enjoy most about working at Installnet?
The connections I’ve built throughout the company and with our customers. I enjoy working with different people every day and being part of a team that works together to solve challenges and keep projects moving forward.
What does a typical day look like for you?
As a Project Coordinator, a big part of my job is making sure all the details are in place before a project begins. I review receiving documents and packing slips, coordinate scheduling with customers, process paperwork, and follow up on project details to ensure everything is ready when the job starts. I stay involved throughout the life of the project and help close it out by collecting completion photos and final documentation. At any given time, I may be supporting 80 to 100 projects that are all in different phases, so organization is critical.
What skills are most important in your role?
Organization is definitely the most important skill. When you’re supporting dozens of projects at the same time, it’s important to stay on top of details, keep accurate notes, and know exactly where each project stands. Communication is also a big part of the job because there are so many people involved in making a project successful.
What has helped you succeed at Installnet?
The best lesson I’ve learned at Installnet is the value of communication and adaptability. Every project brings unique challenges, and I’ve learned that staying proactive, keeping everyone informed, and being flexible are key to achieving successful outcomes. I’ve also been fortunate to work on a great team where everyone is willing to help each other. Whether I have a question or need guidance, my team is there to support one another and share knowledge.
How do you define success in your role?
Success is seeing a project through from beginning to end and knowing it has met (and hopefully exceeded!) the customer’s expectations. When I’ve been involved from the initial stages through closeout and can see the finished result, it gives me a real sense of accomplishment.
How do you give back outside of work?
Whenever I have the opportunity, I enjoy volunteering. Earlier this year, my team participated in a community service project assembling backpacks for children in foster care through the Blue Ribbon Project in Crownsville, Maryland. It’s a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing child abuse in all its forms while providing support to children, youth, and families impacted by abuse and neglect. It was a meaningful opportunity to support children and families in our community while spending time together.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
Outside of work, I’m a wife and a mother of two. My husband and I homeschool our children, which keeps us busy and gives us the opportunity to be very involved in their learning and growth. We enjoy spending time together exploring parks and museums. We recently visited the National Aquarium in Baltimore.
Favorite memory from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood isn’t a single moment, but the time I spent with my father. He passed away when I was 10 years old, so the memories I have with him are incredibly meaningful to me. Whether it was spending time together, sharing laughs, or simply being in his presence, those moments have stayed with me throughout my life. Losing him at a young age taught me an important lesson about the value of being present for the people you care about. It reminded me that it’s often the small things—a hug, a laugh, a conversation, or even a kiss on the forehead—that leave the biggest impact. Because of that, I try not to take time with family and friends for granted and to appreciate the moments we share. Those memories continue to shape who I am and how I approach my relationships today.
